The 7th Grade Civics classes at Six Mile Charter Academy welcomed the Lee County Board of Elections on August 24, 2017.  Juan and Dave spent the entire day with the classes, teaching the students about the history of voting.  This experience reinforced the lesson on voting as a civic responsibility which the students learned about the previous week.

There were voting stands set up along with the voting machine.  The students were given a ballot that they used to vote for their favorite social media site, their favorite pizza topping, and their favorite soda.  Once they completed their confidential vote, they placed the ballot into the voting machine.  Once all ballots were submitted, the results were read.  The students proudly wore their “I Voted” sticker for the remainder of the day.
